       Hoping soon to be able to see the L[ieutenan]t G[enera]l wholly redeemed, we shall thus await him as formerly with open arms.  And we are sending herewith a detachment of our bodyguard, 25 of the most honest fellows [Anderson footnote: I.e. 25 ducats. Evidently Beethoven had borrowed some money from Steiner which he was gradually repaying.”]  who in the business of war are the most important props of the state – We thus remain and we look forward to seeing our L[ieutenan]t G[enera]l soon with cheerful looks – The little lobe of the Adjutant’s left ear should be pulled fairly hard –
